The group  sustained   numerous damages   as  shown  on the images. The stirrups  on the  right side missing, legs of the horse in pieces ,flowers and leaves  shattered  at  many  places..
I bought  this  horseman   for  about  30 Euros a while ago . Quite  heavy  old  Thuringian piece, beautiful work from the beginning of 20th century .Measured  by 34 cm high and about  25 wide at the base.
The stirrups on the left side intact (4), I made a partial mold to recreate the missing right one (image 5) ..
Press mold technique applied ,   the form is ready in white…(images 6,7)
Left hand of the horseman was  damaged as well, index finger  and  something he held in his hand  missing..What was in his hand from the beginning  I still don't know, but  I  decided to make for him  a   Scepter, the  rod or staff  that has long represented authority  and power , often seen on the paintings  in the hands of monarchs and other  VIP   historical figures and recognized since biblical times (Image 8) … To make it I used a cut from cocktail tube as a mold ,the diameter of the thing  was just right… And attached some extra details like small bumps and  figural top ..

The right leg restored, repainted (9). The stirrups  successfully attached, the missing spur created and fixed to the  boot  (10,11) ..
Restoring  fingers  has become  just  a routine procedure , all done in accordance with proportions and natural physiology (12,13).
The   Image  14   shows the finger and the Scepter  completely restored. The top of the rod is still in plain color , it will be gilded  in the end.
Image  15  shows the legs of the stallion  fully restored.
Porcelain Leaves  and Flowers are  tiny  and very delicate  parts  of the composition ..

Missing petals like these  cannot be restored invisibly  by amateurs or  poor restorers.
Skill , advanced materials and certain  techniques  involved in the process  make  the replacements look  indistinguishable from the  intact  original  parts from the closest possible distance.
